2016. A year in review – Southern California Wedding and Portrait Photographer
It feels like I was just doing my ‘a year in review’ for 2015 and here I am doing one for 2016! As I’m getting older, I’m noticing how much quicker time is passing us by. It’s also shedding more light on why it’s so important to capture the amazing memories in our lives. This year, we tragically lost my uncle. It was a very strange occurrence and it left my family and myself scratching our heads at what went wrong. He was fine two weeks before when we were celebrating my Grandpa’s 90th birthday and then all of the sudden he was in a coma and never woke up. I had taken photos at my Grandpa’s party and although it’s heartbreaking to look at them knowing they are the last photos of all of us together, I’m happy we have them because it allows us to remember my uncle and freeze that moment in time before we had to say goodbye. It’s a painful reminder that we need to be more present in our lives and focus on what is important and let the stresses and petty things fall away.
This year I was able to travel to Minnesota to second shoot a couple weddings with one of my dear friends. Two months later I went to Iowa with my husband and his family for a big family reunion and it was so much fun! 2016 had a mixture of heartache and joy but the thing that was consistent was the amazing people in my life. I photographed so many wonderful couples, some darling families, a few gorgeous women during their boudoir sessions and I got to make new and everlasting friendships. It sure has been a whirlwind year but I can’t thank you enough for your love and support through 2016. Cheers to new adventures and new memories ahead in 2017!
