What love in Laguna Beach feels like…

And these two nailed the assignment! They showed up ready to have fun, ready to just love on each other and soak up this time together. Engagement sessions really are like a date night..no phones, no technology, just a distraction free evening where all the focus is on you and your partner.

P.S. the last 4 slides are my favorites..them + that sunset was absolute perfection 😍

A little sneak peek of what I’m currently editing. Absolutely love that golden glow that Laguna Beach spoils us with!

The best time to start your session definitely depends on your location. For woodsy or mountain areas, I typically like to start close to 1 1/2-2 hours before sunset. For the beach, it’s closer to one hour before sunset.

When there is an 18 month age gap between you and your sister, you are best friends AND you get engaged 2 months apart! How special that these two have been through so much of life together and now get to go through the wedding planning together as well.

And the sunset came to play that day! This was during the hurricane a few weeks ago and the insane waves completely took out the beach but we made the absolute most of it and got spoiled by this incredible sunset.

When you want one final session in a place that has meant so much to you…

Matt & Abi used to walk Hermosa Beach holding hands and talk about what their future family looked like. They passed by this exact swing set on a regular basis and dreamt of pushing their babies while they enjoying the sand on their toes.

They are relocating to the East Coast, have one sweet baby with another one on the way and of course their adorable pup. They wanted to document their life as it is right now, in a place where they have grown their family and a place they are going to miss deeply.

When thinking about your own photos, try to pick a place that has meaning to you. It doesn’t have to be a specific spot exactly but if the mountains hold a special place in your heart then I would recommend a location with lots of trees and greenery. If the beach is somewhere you’ve spent a lot of time with your partner, then an engagement or maternity session at one of our Orange County beaches or Los Angeles beaches would be perfect. When you’re in a place you love, it adds so much more to your photos.

Family sessions at home? YES PLEASE!

I have photographed so many exciting milestones for Michael & Lindsay over the years and when they bought their home, we knew it would be the perfect place for their family session.

We also got to include their dog, Lucy, who has quite the personality, loves her yard and her people (especially Michael)! She’s definitely the best guard dog 😂

Getting to photograph them at a place where they are comfortable was great. It works so well with young kids because they get to show me all of their cool things. Henry got to show me the plants they planted, the flowers, his cars and he got to show me how he runs around in the yard with Lucy.

If you are thinking of doing a family session, consider your home as your location. At home sessions are relaxed, playful, sentimental and one of the best parts is there’s no traffic!
