It’s a little late but I’m so happy to finally be blogging Danny and Jan’s Altadena Town & Country Club wedding! Do you ever look at two people and know that they are a perfect match for one another? That’s exactly how Danny and Jan are. When I first met them for their engagement session, I knew within 5 minutes that they were totally perfect for each other. They are so light hearted and love to laugh and just genuinely have fun with each other. They started their wedding day out in Pasadena where they incorporated Jan’s culture and had a Chinese Tea Ceremony. Once the Tea Ceremony was finished we met Jan and her family over at the Courtyard Marriott in Old Town Pasadena where she was getting her hair and makeup done for part two of the wedding day. The Courtyard Marriott had a beautiful lobby where we photographed the dress, shoes, jewelry and the rest of the bridal details.
Once hair and makeup was finished, Jan’s mom helped her get into her dress. Those turned out to be some of my favorite photos of the day because you can just see the love and the happiness between her and her mom. The ceremony and reception were held at the Altadena Town and Country Club in Altadena which is just a short drive from Pasadena. The ceremony location was stunning and just big enough to fit their guests. Danny was emotional before the ceremony even started. He saw Jan earlier that day in her traditional Chinese dress but nothing can quite prepare a groom for seeing his gorgeous bride walk down the aisle to him in her wedding dress. Once Jan made her way down the steps and to the ceremony location, her and Danny made eye contact and the emotion hit not only them but their family, friends and even myself. Their ceremony was short, sweet and meaningful. I don’t think there was a dry eye during the entire ceremony!
The reception was held in one of the ballrooms and had this beautiful chandelier right above the dance floor. One of my favorite parts of the reception was when Jan played a slideshow that she made for Danny and her family. It was so heart felt and you can tell how much time and love she put into it. Everything was going great until the day took a scary turn. During the cake cutting, Danny and Jan smeared some wedding cake on each others faces. Shortly after, as Danny was dancing with his mom, Jan had a horrible allergic reaction to something in the cake and needed to be taken to the hospital. The ambulance was called and Jan was whisked away to the nearest hospital. Their wedding reception ended short and everyone was extremely worried about her but she got the treatment she needed and was released early the next morning. Definitely not a planned grand exit but I’m just happy she was okay! And Danny took his ‘for better or for worse’ vows literal and he didn’t leave her side the entire time.
Overall it was a beautiful day and I’m so happy to have met these two. Jan is doing great and they’re still trying to figure out what she is allergic to but she is healthy, happy and loves being married to her soulmate!
