Kernville Wedding – Pete & Debbie
Pete and Debbie are the absolute sweetest people I have ever met. From my very first time chatting with Debbie, I knew that this couple was going to hold a special place in my heart. I had met them about two months before their wedding when I drove up to Lake Isabella for their engagement session. We had such a fun time and they welcomed me into their home and of course introduced me to their two adorable fur babies, Spike & Rocko. You can view their engagement photos here :
Pete and Debbie had both been married before and their ultimate wish for their wedding was that their friends and family would have a great time. Well guys, mission accomplished!
Since Kernville is about 3 1/2 hours North of me, I wanted to make sure I was in that area the night before the wedding just incase there was an accident on the freeway driving up there or a road closure, etc. If I was already up there the day before I wouldn’t have to worry about driving on the day of their wedding. My second shooter, Rachel, and I stayed in this adorable little Lodge called Kern Lodge. It was right in the middle of this quaint little town known as Kernville. On the day of Pete and Debbie’s wedding, we started at their house and photographed Debbie’s details as well as her in her wedding dress. From there, we went to the venue and photographing Pete who looked so dapper in his suit and cowboy boots.
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and Debbie had her son walk her down the aisle. My favorite part of the ceremony was when they literally “tied the knot.” They had two ropes in which they tied them together to make a knot. I had never seen that done before and it makes for a special keepsake that they placed in their home after the wedding.
The reception was a blast! During the Father/Daughter dance, Debbie danced with her son, her daughter in law and sweet little grandson. And during the Mother/Son dance, Pete danced with his two daughters and beautiful granddaughter. It was such a sweet moment and you can just see the love that they have for their kids and grandkids. When it came time to get the party started, I don’t think I have ever seen so many people on a dance floor before. Everyone, including Rachel and myself, had such a fun time. Pete and Debbie treated me like I was one of their own kids and I came away from this experience with two new amazing friends who I dearly cherish!
