Redondo Beach Family and Maternity Photos | A Sentimental Sunset Session in Hermosa Beach
Some photo sessions are about documenting a specific season of life. Others hold even more meaning because they capture a place, a memory and a chapter that is about to change.
This family and maternity session in Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach was one of those sessions. Abi and Matt have one adorable sweet boy, are expecting a new baby later this year and before their little one arrives, they are preparing for another big change. They are moving to the East Coast and wanted to capture the memories they have made here in Southern California before saying goodbye to a place that has felt like home.
For them, this session was about so much more than maternity and family photos. It was about remembering the beaches they walked along, the views they enjoyed and the dreams they shared about their future together.
A Sentimental Family and Maternity Session in Redondo Beach
One of the most meaningful parts of this session was the swing set along the beach pathway. Abi and Matt used to walk along this pathway together and would often pass the swings. During those walks, they would talk about their future and imagine what life might look like one day. They could picture their babies swinging on those very swings. And we photographed exactly that! Now, they are preparing to welcome baby number two.
Getting to photograph them in this place during such a meaningful season felt incredibly special. What was once simply part of their walks together had become a symbol of the future they dreamed about. Years from now, their little ones will be able to look at these photos and know that long before they arrived, their parents were already dreaming about them. So sweet!
Capturing Their Last Memories in Southern California
Southern California has been an important part of this family’s story. The beaches of Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach were the perfect setting to capture this chapter before their move to the East Coast. This wasn’t just a beautiful beach location, it was a place connected to their memories and their future and held a special place in their story.
That is one reason I always encourage families and couples to choose locations that feel meaningful to them. A beautiful backdrop is wonderful, but a location connected to your story can make your photos even more personal.
And of course, their dog had to be part of the session too! Our pets are part of the family and I always love when families choose to include them in their photos. Their dog joined in on the fun and helped make the session feel even more special and true to their family.
As the sun began to set, the beach created the most beautiful backdrop for their maternity and family photos. The warm sunset light added a soft and timeless feel to the images while the ocean and coastline created the perfect setting as a way for them to say goodbye to So Cal as they begin their next adventure.
