Disneyland Anniversary - Scott + Kelly - Disneyland in Anaheim, CA

I have so much to say about this Disneyland Anniversary session!  Kelly contacted me about photographing their special event about 7 months before her and Scott’s anniversary.  They live up in Oregon but were going to be coming to Southern California with their two teenage daughters to celebrate their 20th Wedding Anniversary at Disneyland.  Disneyland has always held a very special place in Kelly’s heart, as well as in mine, and she wanted to incorporate that into their anniversary celebration.

I met them in their hotel room at the Disneyland Hotel and started photographing their details while Kelly finished getting her makeup done.  She had a gorgeous tea length wedding dress that she hung on a custom made hanger that said ‘Mrs. Peterson’.  If you’ve ever been to the Disneyland Hotel, you know how darling the headboards are on the bed.   It made for such a cute background as I was photographing Kelly’s dress!

In addition to celebrating their wedding anniversary, it also happened to be Dapper Day at Disneyland!  They all had a second outfit that they were going to change into later before heading into the Park.  This included Kelly’s adorable TOMS that you’ll see below 😉

When Kelly got into her dress, Scott put on his suspenders and the girls finished putting on their shoes and jewlery, we headed down to the gazebo where Scott and Kelly were going to exchange gifts.  Kelly got Scott a very nice watch and Scott got Kelly these beautiful bracelets that had both of their names in Hawaiian.  From there, we did some walking around and photographing in quite a few different places around the Disneyland Hotel and in the courtyard.  In the courtyard, we found the cutest hedges that were shaped like Mickey and Minnie and of course did quite a few photos of them there.  Once we felt like we had a captured a good amount of what Kelly had envisioned, we headed back up to the hotel room where they had an anniversary cake waiting for them.  They cut the cake and fed each other just like they did on their wedding day 20 years ago.  So cute!  Everyone changed into their Dapper Day attire and we headed into Disneyland.  I personally have never been to Disneyland on Dapper Day so it was a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up in their outfits!

We walked down Main Street and when we were over by the Castle, Scott gave Kelly an anniversary ring.  It’s such a gorgeous ring so of course I needed to photograph it.  Rings are some of my favorite things to photograph and I always try to incorporate something from their special day in with the rings.  In this case, I found a Dumbo sculpture in front of the castle and he aided in making these ring shots some of my favorites I’ve ever taken.

Overall, Scott and Kelly’s Disneyland Anniversary session was so much fun and I’m honored that they chose me to spend the day with them and photograph such a special milestone in their lives.  They are so sweet, perfect for one another and together have two extremely beautiful and talented daughters.  Congratulations again, on 20 magical years!
